Our mission
Ever since its outset, Myrtus has held strict compliance with standards on safeguarding the environment and on safety to be a basic feature of its company policy. Special care paid to environmental issues, to new technologies and to new environmental standards both in Italy and in Europe, have led our company to introduce increasingly innovative methods and techniques in order to improve the performance of the company. Myrtus today intends to proceed on this path, setting up an environmental management system able to ensure the company increasing efficiency in managing its environmental impacts and integrating its extant safety system. The main goal is a constant quest for technologies, products and processes which can reconcile - in full harmony - the improvement and technological growth of our production with the reduction of the environmental impact while keeping up, and if possible improving, the overall safety level off the company. The kind of processing we do - which involves the use of environmentally hazardous chemical products - calls for the utmost attention when choosing purification products and technologies in order to prevent, or at least reduce the delivery of such elements into the environment. Our processes require the use of energy sources, water, chemical products. Our purification systems produce sludge and waste: optimizing the ratio between the quantity of material produced and the quantity of resources used, while keeping under control the quantity of waste by-products to dispose of, is therefore a priority for our company. Myrtus believes that improving its environmental performance is not a just a job for a few company functions; depending on the functions, it is a task involving all the staff, and all the staff must be committed to careful management of environmental issues. Knowledge of the environmental policy, as well as of the safety policy, is the first element in spreading awareness and training all the staff on these issues. The company also intends to contribute to spreading greater awareness about environmental issues outside the company as well, promoting the extension of environmental certification to other companies operating in the galvanization industry.
Integrated pollution prevention
The commitment to preventing pollution will be pursued according to an approach consistent with the requirements of EC directive 96/61, known as Integrated Prevention and Pollution Control, and with any relevant future directives. Every present or future production will be evaluated within an integrated logic taking into account every environmental aspect, from Prevention and Pollution Control of waste to Resource and Energy Saving, to Atmospheric and Acoustic Prevention and Pollution Control, to the Management of Substances hazardous for the environment and any other forms of pollution (electrosmog, etc.). The company also believes that, in order to improve its environmental management system, increasingly detailed knowledge is required of all the data involved in the production and purification processes. Collection of data, measurement of the variables, knowledge of the concentrations, are and will be of primary importance in developing changes to the plant or adopting new processes, in order to evaluate their environmental aspects both while planning and after the works have been made.

Our company is committed to actively spreading its Environmental Policy to all the staff, to its outside consultants and to any other parties involved (public bodies, control authorities, citizens, customers, suppliers, etc.) which our company may deem useful to inform. The document shall in any case be available to anyone requesting it. A copy of this policy will also be made available on the company web site.
